Pastor
Bob Sweeney
Bob has been in ministry for over 30 years. For about 30 years he served in various positions, but most of his time was spent in youth and children's ministry. He still has a real heart for these areas of ministry and will continue to work closely with these important ministries of Grace United Methodist. All through his time in youth ministry God has been preparing him to share the gospel message in a way that is understandable to a 5 year old or a 50 year old. He feels that sharing God's word is the most important thing we can share with the world. This is shared in speaking as well as actions.
Bob also has a great understanding of all age level ministries. Having worked with nursing homes, senior centers he has a very good understanding for his senior population. He does not believe that senior means retirement from being active. He works well with this population and believes in keeping them active. Although he has realized that he does not have to work hard with this population at Grace, they are already hard to keep up with. He has worked with all age groups, married, single, widowed, and divorced, believing that God's love and forgiveness brings us all together as a family no matter what our status is in life.
Bob also holds a bachelor of Social Work from Morehead State University. This gives him a great understanding for working with any type of Handicap a person may be faced with. Working with daily problems is why God has called him into ministry. Whether it is a broken faucet, a broken leg, a broken heart, hunger, substance abuse, or a broken life, it can all take its toll on our lives and paralyze us. He feels strongly that that is what ministry is all about. Helping us through these times is what God wants the church to be about and what God has called Bob to help facilitate.
